The Author

Here’s a little about me:

  • I was born in Champaign (I love to say that!), Illinois and grew up between Chicago, Illinois and Newark, Ohio.
  • I have a Bachelor’s in Nursing from Ohio State University and a Masters in Public Health (Administration) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
  • I love reading, gardening and time with family and friends.  Sometimes I paint and sometimes I build or refinish furniture.  I believe that variety is the spice of life.
  • More than anything, I always wanted to travel.  Nursing has allowed me to work across the country and in Ireland.  I’ve worked in many different settings both as a staff nurse and as a manager---pediatrics, long term care, hospitals, home health, information systems, labor relations and education.
  • I’ve always wanted to write, but it took me a long time to realize if you want to write, you have to write!  I finally did this and I learned you have to have a routine.  For me, the best time is morning.  I also learned that writing was easy; it was re-writing and re-writing that wasn’t easy.
  • “Write what you know.”  Having been a nurse for over 40 years, nursing is what I know best.  Mystery is the genre I love best and I hope it helps to draw young readers into learning about nursing today.
